The Bank of New York Mellon has a unique asset management model that consists of independent boutique asset managers whose sole focus is asset management. The Bank of New York Mellon’s investment strategies meet a wide range of objectives and cover virtually every style, strategy and asset class.

All of our investment strategies are available on a separate account basis. Many are also available for investment via an offshore pooled fund vehicle. Three of our most highly sought after strategies in Australia can also be accessed via an Australian-domiciled trust.


Mellon Global Alpha Trust

  • A relative value multi-strategy fund
  • Managed by Mellon Capital Management
  • Utilises 39 independent alpha signals in a quantitative process
  • Takes unconstrained directional positions for equities, bonds and currencies
  • Incorporates uncorrelated sources of alpha and provides a low correlation with traditional markets
  • Aims to outperform the RBA Australian Cash Rate by 15% per annum with a tracking error of 15%

Mellon Global Bond Alpha Trust

  • A relative value fund that seeks to provide pure bond and currency alpha
  • Utilises two of the same alpha drivers from the successful Global Alpha Strategy
  • Takes long and short positions of up to +/-200% in bonds, cash and currency
  • Aims to outperform the UBS Australia Bank Bill Index by 4% per annum with a tracking error of 4%


Mellon Global Equities Trust

  • A well-diversified sector and market neutral global equity core strategy
  • Managed by The Boston Company Asset Management, LLC
  • Incorporates quantitative analysis with bottom-up fundamental analysis
  • Invests in companies with positive business trends not yet fully recognised by the market
  • Aims to outperform the MSCI World ex Australia Index by 2 - 3% per annum
